Gazing at the Stars through an online Telescope

Author: Rohit Chopra
To access the Internet, we must first open up our Internet browser. Once the browser has been activated we can either select one of our favorite web sites or go to the address bar and type in the Internet address that we wish to access. Generally, when typing in the web sites address we begin with the letters www. These initials stand for World Wide Web.
Now, however, by logging on to certain web sites, we can view and gain information through our computers that transcends the World Wide Web. Through our computers we can capture, view and study images that are obtained from far beyond the earths atmosphere. Specifically, through the internet, we have the opportunity of viewing worlds beyond our world by accessing an online telescope.
How It Works
The process involved in accessing an online telescope viewing opportunity requires coordinating of viewing times and dates. An individual, at the participating observatory, is normally assigned to coordinate the requests. Once the e-mail has been received and the time is scheduled, the coordinator, that is facilitating the use of the online telescope, will respond to the request.
The process is completed once the telescope records the images that were viewed based on the given request. Once the images are posted an e-mail, with the link, is sent to the individual who made the request. That individual can then just simply click on to the imbedded link and access the photos that reflect their specific request provided by the online telescope.
Two Viewing Methods
The individual making the request can ask that the online telescope be utilized a number of ways. In addition, the observatory may honor requests for different colored filters to be utilized when requested by the viewer.
One of the viewing methods includes the viewer requesting that certain specific coordinates be captured. These coordinates may correspond to the position of a specific star, system, etc. If the person making the request is asking for specific coordinates to be observed, they can accomplish this by accessing the available catalogs that can help provide these specific coordinates.
The other method simply provides an image by the online telescope of the general areas of space. The online user can simply request that the planet Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, etc, be viewed by the online telescope and that its image be captured. In addition, this method can simply request that general areas of deep space be observed.
Taking a Hard Look: VOIP Service Provider Offerings

Author: Jon Arnold
Almost every time you turn around, somebody else is trying to pitch VOIP to you, and with all the VOIP service providers out there, how do you know which one is right for you? If you read the marketing literature and flyers that they put out to get your attention, you would think they are all the best invention since sliced bread and canned beer.
First of all, you need to realize that at the basic fundamental level, almost all of them, at least the major ones, do perform the services as advertised. In more than 90% of the cases where a problem is reported, studies have shown that the problem is not with the VOIP service provider, but rather the problem is with the residential high speed Internet connection.
You see, the VOIP service provider does not guarantee squat about the quality of your high speed Internet connection. They make the ASSUMPTION that it is reliable and stable, with sufficient bandwidth to perform VOIP functionality. But with the extremely large variations in residential DSL and cable connections, and yes even FIOS, reliability and stability of that connection cannot be assumed. And if you only have satellite for your high speed Internet connection, don’t even think about implementing VOIP at your home, as it will be a source of grief and frustration on a continual basis.
But if you do have a stable and reliable high speed Internet connection, then how do you decide which one is best for you? The feature set that they have is pretty much the same – unlimited calling in the continental United States, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, three way calling. For residential VOIP service, what else do you really need?
So if all the features are pretty much the same, let’s look at how they are priced. Now this sheds entirely new light on the subject. Vonage charges $24.99 per month. Packet8 and Earthlink VOIP charge $24.99 per month. Comcast and Charter charge $29.99 per month.
There is a better and more cost effective option for you, and the price is only $19.95 per month for even more features than the others offer. For example, in addition to unlimited calls in the continental US, they also include unlimited calls to Canada and Puerto Rico. They also offer a soft phone option where you can use your computer and a high speed Internet connection to make and receive calls. And if you want to sign up for a year at a time, the price drops to under $17.00 per month.
They don’t advertise at Circuit City or Best Buy, and they don’t include circulars with your Visa and MasterCard statements. Instead of wasting money on that, they pass those savings on to you in the form of a cheaper rate and more service.
When you are ready to implement VOIP at your house, be sure to consider this option and you can see your savings grow even faster with this VOIP service provider. There is little sense in spending more than you need to for anything, and VOIP is certainly no exception to that rule.
Information and Features About Sony Dsc-h50

Author: Corwin Brown
Sony has announced a successor to its DSC-H9 ’super zoom’ digital camera in the form of the 9.0 megapixel Cyber-Shot DSC-H50. As well as the inevitable rise in pixel count the H50 has several improvements over its predecessor, including an ED lens element, user-selectable noise reduction, white balance and color mode bracketing, and an upgraded DRO function. It also has an improved sports mode and, last but by no means least, Sony’s unique ’smile shutter’ and adult- or child-priority face detection.
Stylistically, the new camera is much in keeping with other recent offerings in the H line, presenting a mini-DSLR look with an offset lens barrel and prominent hand grip.
The H50 comes equipped with Sony’s Advanced Sports Shooting mode that we’ve seen recently on other higher-end cameras from the manufacturer. Using the expected high shutter speeds in addition to a predictive auto focus system, previous implementations of the mode have made for easier action shooting than is normally the case for a non-DSLR.
The camera also features a large, 3-inch tilting LCD screen so you can shoot comfortably from nearly any position, at low and high angles. Its scratch-resistant, UV hard-coat finish adds a premium look and feel that mirrors the performance of the model.
The DSC-H50 also features Super Steady Shot, Night Shot, D-Range Optimizer, smile recognition, faces detection and has an advanced sports shooting mode that will offer shutter speeds up to 1/4000 of a second with continuous auto-focusing.
Its improved “advanced sports” shooting mode now employs a system to apply higher shutter speeds, up to 1/4000 of a second, more frequently than on previous models. This mode combines high shutter speeds with predictive continuous auto-focusing so you can quickly focus and capture fast-moving subjects with minimal shutter lag basically the time it takes for the camera to focus and shoot.
The camera also incorporates intelligent features that help you take better pictures more easily. They include improved smile shutter and face detection technologies with child or adult priority recognition, as well as, intelligent scene recognition with standard and advanced modes to analyze shooting conditions and select the optimal setting automatically.
Sony DSC-H50 Features:-
* Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lens
* Super Steady shot optical image stabilization
* 3″ tilting LCD display
* Scratch-resistant, UV hard-coat finish
* Advanced Sports Shooting Mode (up to 1/4000 of a second)
* Versatile, long-distance flash
* Extensive manual controls
* Smile shutter and face detection technologies with child or adult priority recognition
* Night Shot technology
Keeping the iPod Portable with Miniature iPod Speakers

Author: Michael Hehn
One of the main selling points of Apple’s iPod is its great portability. Take it on a jog, in the car, or anywhere you go. You can take your music with you literally anywhere. The headphones are also incredibly portable, and you can easily fit both the iPod and the headphones into your pocket.
However, many people feel that headphones grow uncomfortable if used for hours at a time, and they believe that speakers sound better overall. However, nobody really wants to carry big bulky speakers around. Now, they don’t have to. With the development of miniature iPod speakers, anyone can play music across a room without losing the portability that made the iPod such a startling success.
Everyone Will Enjoy
So you got your iPod as a gift, but you find that only you can enjoy it. For long car rides with friends, they probably want to listen to music as well, but if you only have headphones, everyone but one person will be out of luck. With miniature iPod speakers, you can ensure that everyone gets to listen to music without leaving anyone out in the cold. Play it at parties, after class, basically any time that could use a little music. With your iPod able to hold hundreds of hours of songs, you’ll never have to deal with silence again.
Many people already enjoy the ultra portability of miniature iPod speakers. When you’re done with them, just slide them into your pocket and be on your way. In fact, you’ll be surprised at how small they are when you hear them, because you’d think that such sound would only be possible with big, bulky speakers. Well, the science is in, and these speakers are a reality, as any number of reviews, both professional and consumer, will indicate.
You can also get miniature iPod speakers very cheaply, as they don’t require many resources because of their size to make. Because of their size, they also use a fraction of the electricity that other speakers use, and often will run right off your iPod so you don’t need to find a convenient AC outlet, which is in fact often inconvenient.
If you’re going on a camping trip, these speakers are especially great for you, because they don’t take up much room, and they don’t weigh much. When you’re carrying everything you’re going to use for several days on your back, you don’t really want to add any weight, and you’ll be able to bring music to the campsite. If you’re looking for big value in a small package, go buy some miniature iPod speakers and hear great sound all around.
The Cowon Iaudio A3 Review and Features

Author: Corwin Brown
The iAudio A3 is Cowon’s flagship PMP with a very thorough list of supported codecs in both music and video. The 800×480 16.7 million color screen is crisp and will do justice to your video collection. There is a lot of good going on with the A3, and it’s probably the best PMP of its size on the market.
The video player is smooth (load times are a second or two), but navigation is a little wonky with the 4-way stick taking the place of a directional pad. It’s not too bad, but occasional down-clicks for selecting something didn’t get registered, or got registered as an up click instead. Photo viewing is also sweet on the bright and ample display, and the transition time between photos is negligible. The only problem comes from the navigation stick and trying to cleanly press down on it without moving the stick in another direction as well.
Its predecessor, the Cowon A3 includes two stereo speakers and a mono microphone on its top edge, a power button on its right, a hold switch that doubles as a video-out switch on the bottom, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top left edge. Below the A3’s headphone jack is tethered a plastic door that conceals a 3.5mm composite AV output, a 3.5mm composite AV input, a proprietary jack made for connecting an included S-video and component-video output cable, and a USB jack for transferring files from your computer or hosting devices, such as digital cameras or USB memory sticks.
The A3’s 4in, 800 x 480 resolutions, 16m-colour TFT screen is little short of a work of art and makes nearly every other comparable personal media player on the market look like an Etch-a-Sketch. Supporting video resolution up to 1280 x 720 - so we are talking HD here - it’s simply a thing of beauty. Bright, clear and crisp with solid blacks, it is by some way the best PMP screen we’ve seen, besting even the Archos 605.
The iAudio A3 can connect to a TV with a composite video cable, and also comes with a component output for much better video quality. As the player’s audio volume was so low, we had to turn the TV’s volume up to maximum. It can also record directly from a composite or S-video source, and recorded video had few artifacts when viewed on the player’s screen.
The Cowon A3 is cursed with a clumsy joystick interface; a highly reflective screen; no support for DRM-protected media; and archaic music sorting. It’s also a little on the chubby side.
Nikon Coolpix P50 Review and Its Features

Author: Corwin Brown
Nikon is pleased to announce the introduction of the Nikon COOLPIX P50, a new model which prioritizes photographic performance by blending orthodox camera styling with an advanced feature set and operating ease. Built on a custom application of Nikon’s innovative EXPEED digital image processing concept and incorporating the precision optics of a NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX P50 is built to realise optimum performance and maximum image quality.
The P50 has an old-fashioned, boxy feel. The chunky grip for your right hand, complete with rubberized panel, is helpful, but we’re not sure about the overall chunky design. We appreciate that not every camera has to be a ’style’ model, competing to be the thinnest for five minutes. But to make a camera as willfully bland as this seems strange.
Nikon is celebrating ten years of Coolpix cameras, which have brought Nikon’s world-class optics, expertise in digital imaging and outstanding image quality into the hands of millions of consumers. Building on these achievements, Nikon Europe announced 8 new Nikon Coolpix models in the Performance, Style and Life series. Friendly, fashionable and fun, the sleek, colourful and powerful Coolpix cameras will be any consumer’s constant companions. The new Coolpix cameras continue Nikon’s uncompromising commitment to optical quality, powerful but easy to use technology, and to helping photographers create great images.
Moving to the right hand flank of the camera – if still viewed from the rear – a covered AV out and USB port is discovered, hiding beneath a loop for attaching the supplied wrist strap. At the opposite side of the P50 nestles a built in speaker that provides tinny but adequate sound. The base of the Nikon Coolpix P50 features a screw thread for attaching a tripod, a slide and open lid that hides the compartment for the twin AAs and Secure Digital card, while there’s a further port for attaching the supplied multi purpose AV and USB cable. Battery life is pretty much as expected given that everything is running on AAs – meaning that I found they were almost spent after a couple of afternoons’ use, and just over 100 shots.

VoIP Phone Service: Changing Communication for the Better

Author: Kristen
Internet has become a part and parcel of the contemporary world. Moreover, new and innovative means of using the Internet are being devised each day. The latest development in this sphere is the merger of telephone services with Internet services. VoIP phone service is very much a reality that has revolutionized voice communications in recent times – irrevocably and for the better.
In VoIP phone service, users are able to make telephone calls using their broadband Internet connections. In many parts of the world, local telephone services are being replaced by VoIP services and the customers and the end users are not complaining. In fact, they are finding themselves in an advantageous position, wherein they are able to make long distance calls to other regions of the globe without having to pay through their noses for the same. The market that was the stronghold of traditional carriers is slowly but surely opening up to the reality that is voice over IP.
As of now, the VoIP service sector is a witness to a lot of activity. The market conditions are buoyant and volatile – a fact that is forcing the VoIP phone service providers to cut down on the costs of the services. Customers and end users are the ultimate beneficiaries. They have a lot of flexibility in selecting the providers and carriers of their choice depending on specific situations. In simple terms, this means that an end user can now make long distance calls at affordable costs using this IP service.
This amazing feat was not achieved in a single day. It took a number of years and lot of developmental efforts in different areas to bring VoIP to where it is currently positioned today. It all started with computer users connecting with each other through their computers. However, even then, certain conditions had to be met to ensure feasibility. The users wanting to benefit from this “pc-to-pc connectivity” needed a stable Internet connection, a computer that was enabled for voice applications, and a special software program developed for the purpose.
In these systems, users could do away with their traditional phones and “connect” easily with friends, family members and colleagues, without having to pay exorbitant sums of money on the same. However, the drawbacks of using these phone services were also quite obvious. One had to be in front of a computer that was properly configured and enabled for this purpose. There was also the factor of stability in the use of dial-up connections for this purpose. In addition, the people that one wanted to communicate with had to be in front of their computers at the other hand for the proper functioning of these systems.
But that was a couple of years ago. The VoIP phone services that are in vogue today are compatible with broadband Internet connections. Apart from being very fast, these connections are more stable than the dial-up variant. Moreover, a user of VoIP services can now use a traditional telephone to make calls that are routed through the Internet.
Consumers and end users today are faced with a dilemma of choice. They have a lot of options in terms of the service providers that they want to subscribe to and the wireless VoIP phone services that they want to enjoy. Almost anybody and everybody can now make the switch from traditional phone services to VoIP services, without having to go through too much trouble.
With advantages such as cost efficiency, flexibility, reliability and stability, the popularity of VoIP Internet phone services is on the increase. The nature of these services is such that they come bundled with other equally amazing offers such as unlimited calls to certain numbers in particular geographic locales. Other services that often come bundled with a VoIP service include voicemail, call forwarding, caller ID, 3 way calling, etc., which also enhances their popularity quite significantly.
